Updates: Garden, Leg and Monday, Monday...

So, this is a few days off (though the pics are not - there were taken 14 days after the initial fall...)...I really think the scarring will be minimal...my esthetician gave me vitamin C oil that I have been using religiously and let me tell you, it's reducing the redness and scarred-looking areas a lot!

and the garden continues to go. Disappointed: no cuccumbers and my beets don't seem to be taking too well - keep trying, right?

And so, these updates are a bit brief...see, it's Monday. I don't personally have anything against Monday's but today: today is a different day.

Today, I skipped spinning (which I love) to grab an x-ray of my leg because it still hurts...like a structural-type hurt. And while it looks like it's healing it's just you know, 1.5 weeks later and well, COME ON! So - my right knee is "officially" sprained, I have cellulitis and the doctor told me to stop running (forever) because the x-rays shows oh-so-very-little space in my knee - almost bone on bone...I'll be following up with my ortho guy (Dr Vernon Patterson: love-love him!) to see what he says...but still...

Top it off with a visit to the vet with my 15 year old cat Rebound...he's been a little off lately so I just thought I'd see...and low and behold: beginning stages of kidney failure. DAMN, DAMN, DAMN...pills, powder and special food...he's totally worth it...

Screw this day though, you know?

Quote for Today

"If you are thinking one year ahead, sow a seed. If you are thinking 10 years ahead, plant a tree. If you are thinking 100 years ahead, educate the people."

One Week Later!

My lower leg still hurt(s) so much that I actually went to an urgent care center last night...just to see! Hey, my high deductible HSA plan is met/fully funded for the year so, why not, right?

Doc said it's healing just fine but will be weeks for the redness/bruising etc. to go away...that falls like mine are traumatic, give it time: blah-blah. I just needed some reassurance, you know? It's been about 20 years or so since I've had cuts, scrapes etc. like this...

In this same week I have sprouted: cataloupe, zucchini, acorn squash, green beans, yellow wax beans and beets!

Hooray for healing and growing and gardens...

Ahh...My Blog!

Hello Blog...I have missed you much! FaceBook has been taking up a lot of my computer time though...

Am a bit less busy than usual for a few weeks: gardening started, intense 6-week session for school, being outside, being outside! Riding my bike, running...started a few races (5Ks, 10Ks [ok: one 10K!]) - the class should be a bit more intense than a normal class (lots of assignments) but nothing like the nightmare class I just finished (can you say group project? my god - there should not be group projects in school...'cause only 3 of 5 of us really worked and it was VERY frustrating/unfair...).

Here's a reminder to all: please, please watch out for folks riding their bikes - I was almost hit by a car today: ended up falling (!gulp!) for the first time since grade school I'd guess - look at my poor, ouchy leg:

Could have been much worse but man-o-man does it hurt! My lower leg is all scratched up, swollen/big lump and burn-e-owe!

Of course, to stay on track I had to go plant some seeds in the garden today:
These pics are the first night after weeding, adding leaf humus: so beautiful!

Today I planted: green beans, yellow wax beans, beets, cantaloupe, cuccumbers, winter/acorn squash, and black beauty squash/zucchini - these are from seed. I've never tried beets ('cause I just discovered my love for them last year! mmm, mmm) roast 'em with some salt and pepper then eat 'em (hot or cold) with some sea salt and balsamic vinegar: delicious! I've never tried cantaloupe (and haven't seen anyone try it at the gardens either) but I figured: what the hell, right? And I love: love cantaloupe so if it works: lovely! If it doesn't work I'll plant more beets and/or beans!

Hooray for outside and running and bike riding (though I could do without the driver's that don't pay attention!) and gardening and leaf humus and planting seeds and: hooray!

Time Flies

Rcvd another comment on a post and I am again motivated to post.

Finished with the three injections and feel like a normal human being: it took some getting used to.

Did the second and third injections without sedation: totally worth it! Done with acupuncture right now too - going broke on medical bills, you know?

School is still a pain in the ass, though slightly less so now: dropped a course: it was an elective. It totally chaps my ass that I already paid for it, no refund available and it may impact my ability to get loans in the future but, it was a nightmare class so...

All this just better be worth it some day.

I am so grateful I have a job, that I have good benefits and the ability to go to school while working but the thought of being stuck doing what I'm doing forever hurts my head and breaks my heart...

The economy remains a nightmare and funding is still being cut...will I ever get a chance to do what I really want to do?

Stuff

Received a comment on my lack of posting post and it motivated me to at least add a few lines now...

Rcvd my first cortisone shot last Friday. Unpleasant procedure but so far the results are good. Continuing with acupuncture just in case! This whole experience has been frustrating - to say the least!

I feel like a crazy person lately: so busy, so much on my plate!
I'm involved with three fundraisers over a one month period (one down, one this Saturday [and really I didn't do too much for this one, but I'm anxious nonetheless!] and the big-big one with the art auction 03/20/10!), on top of school (and one impossible class!) and my regular volunteering and I just got nominated and voted in to be a board member for an organization I really love...and getting back into a regular routine of work, school, work-out, volunteer, homework, projects - OH: and having a life! ha!

Gardening season is coming soon too - madness I tell you, madness!

lack of posting...

Went back to school last fall! Working on my Master's in Community Health Education (actually it'll be an M.ed/CHE)...so exciting and stimulating and promising (yes, already!)! Forgot how much I love to learn!

Herniated a disk in my neck early November and that has been challenging, to say the least. Physical therapy, being uncomfortable or in pain (all the time), got Shingles from taking Prednisone (yes - at 33!), thankfully caught it early and really only felt the Shingles the first night (thank god...it surely would have put me over the edge!) - back to Ortho 01/08/10 and we'll see. Had really wanted this resolved before my new semester started...it had largely ruined my holidays and break from school...

Miss you blog: I'll be back more often!
